F. Eileen Smith, 100, of Fergus Falls, Minn., and formerly of Huron, died Monday, May 11, 2009.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. George Par-meter officiating.
F. Eileen Cowling was born Aug. 24, 1908, in Haileybury, Ontario, Canada, to Robert and Florence (Annett) Cowling. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1925 and attended Hibbing Junior College and Huron College. She worked as a bookkeeper before her marriage.
On Aug. 23, 1932, she married Edward Smith at Huron. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was in the altar guild, St. Martha’s guild, choir and a lector. She was an election judge for many years and served as a Brownie leader. She was a talented pianist and enjoyed gardening, card games, word games and reading.
She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Mann of Shoreview, Minn., and Linda (David) Waring of Fergus Falls; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Bauder and Aletha Tillman of Huron; and a brother-in-law, William Smith of Huron.
Preceding her in death were her husband; four siblings, R. Mervy, Marjorie Cowling, Stephanie Meyer and Edytha Keller; a son-in-law, Jack Mann; and a foster sister, Sadie Golding.
