ALPENA — The Wildcat Golf Tournament will be held Friday to kick off the 125th anniversary celebration for the Alpena community.
Registration for the golf tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the tournament being held at the Wessington Springs Country Club.
American Bank and Trust will sponsor a supper in the Alpena Community Center at 6 p.m.
Opening ceremonies on Friday will begin at 8 p.m., followed by local entertainment and the Mr. and Mrs. Alpena Contest.
The Company Cowboys will perform on the stage located outside the Community Center. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
A fireworks display will conclude the first day.
On Saturday, registration for the Wildcat 4k Run will begin at 8 a.m., followed by registration for the Wildcat 1.5 Mile Walk at 8:45 a.m.
The registrations will take place in the Alpena Community Center parking lot.
Turtle races will be held on the north basketball court at 10 a.m., followed by toilet bowl races at 11 a.m. at the west end of Main Street.
The chicken drop contest will take place by the community center at noon, followed by Kids Parade lineup at 2:30 p.m.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m.
Supper sponsored by Jack Links Inc. will be served in the Alpena Community Center at 6 p.m., and the raffle of a limited edition rifle, sponsored by the Alpena Volunteer Fire Department, will take place at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s agenda concludes with entertainment by Johnny Holmes at 7 p.m. Other events include face painting, children’s train and can coolers.
Sunday’s agenda begins with a church service in the community center at 10 a.m. Dinner sponsored by Stan’s Inc., will be served in the Community Center at 11:30 a.m.
The all-school reunion program and closing ceremonies will take place at 1 p.m.
Campsites are available at Woonsocket and Wessington Springs. The Wessington Springs sites are on a first-come-first-served basis with a three-day limit. Grohs RV Park in Wessington Springs also is on a first-come-first served basis.
Woonsocket has campsites at $10 per night that include water, sewer and electricity. Call City Hall for reservations, 796-4112.
