Open letter to the Voters of District 22

I am Representative Jim White and I am seeking the Senate seat for District 22 in South Dakota, representing the residents of Kingsbury and Beadle counties. My decision to pursue the Senate position was the result of encouragement I've received from many constituents over the past year, including Senator Tom Hansen, our current District 22 Senator who is term limited.

As your current State House Representative I serve on the Appropriations Committee, which controls the spending by the State Legislature. Any bill having an impact on our state's budget must be reviewed and approved by this critical committee. Numerous times over the past two years I have been able to take input from local residents to this committee to educate and influence spending decisions having a direct impact on our local district. Senate leadership has assured me that I will be considered for the Senate Appropriations Committee next year, where I can bring my experience and citizen input to the difficult decisions of appropriating tax dollars for our state.

As your Senator in Pierre, I will continue to focus on the advancement of education and enhancing South Dakota's business climate. I will rely on my background in education, finance, and economic development to promote and develop common sense solutions to these challenges.

Thank you for allowing me to represent you these past two years, and I look forward to your input when I represent your interests as the State Senator from District 22.

Sincerely,

Jim White
District 22 State Senate
