Basin Electric, Dakota Energy award scholarships

The Board of Directors of Dakota Energy Cooperative, Inc., is pleased to announce that seven students will receive scholarships totaling $5,000. To qualify for the scholarships, winners must be children or dependents of a Dakota Energy member or employee. In addition, scholarship criteria are academic record, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors and awards, adult appraisal, work experience, and other factors.

Basin Electric Scholarships
• Kate Hamilton, a senior at Wolsey-Wessington High School, was awarded a $1,000 Basin Electric Member Cooperative Consumer scholarship. She plans to attend North Dakota State University to study Communications and Political Sciense. Kate’s parents are Jeff and Suzanne Hamilton of Wessington.
• Journey Palmer, a senior at Miller High School, was awarded a $1,000 Basin Electric Member Cooperative Employee scholarship. She plans to atten South Dakota State University to study nursing. Journey’s parents are Dakota Energy’s System Technician Coordinator Greg Palmer and Trinity Hunter, Miller.

Dakota Energy Scholarships
• Trace Van Regenmorter, a senior at De Smet High School, was awarded a $1,000 Dakota Energy Line Worker Scholarship to attend Mitchell Technical Institute to study Power Line Construction and Maintenance. Trace’s parents are Dave and Abi Van Regenmorter, De Smet.
• Rebecca Bich, a senior at Iroquois High School, was chosen to receive a $500 Dakota Energy scholarship. She plans to attend South Dakota State University to study Exercise Science and Spanish. Rebecca’s parents are Greg and Kristen Bich of Cavour.
• Hamtyn Heinz, a senior at Huron High School, was chosen to receive a $500 Dakota Energy scholarship. She plans to attend Dakota State University. Hamtyn’s parents are Dennis and the late Peggy Heinz of Huron.

• Jackson Mattke, a senior at Huron High School, was chosen to receive a $500 Dakota Energy scholarship. He plans to attend South Dakota State University to study Sports Management. Jackson’s parents are Jared and Kara Mattke of Huron.
• Chloe Zens, a senior at Redfield High School, was chosen to receive a $500 Dakota Energy scholarship. She plans to attend South Dakota State University to study Radiology. Chloe’s parents are Chris and Angela Zens of Tulare.
