HRMC names BEE Award winner

Posted

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently recognized Herb Ramirez with its Beyond Exceptional Everyday (BEE) Award.

Ramirez, who has been employed at HRMC nearly one year, works in the information systems department as a network engineer. He was nominated for the award by colleagues. One nomination stated, “In the IT department, Herb is a positive addition to the team. He is engaged with his coworkers as well as his everyday work amidst busy moments and stressful days. He chooses to be involved outside of the department and is a friendly face to many around HRMC.”

Another colleague remarked, “Herb has made himself available to cover extra call hours and step in when needed. Change is inevitable, and Herb goes the extra mile to make himself available in times of need.”

HRMC’s BEE Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s core values of REACH by being respectful, engaged, available, competent, and helpful.

Employees can be nominated by fellow coworkers or by patients or visitors who witness exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments select the BEE Award honoree on a quarterly basis.

As BEE Award recipient, Ramirez received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, $30 credit to the HRMC employee store, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, and a lapel pin.

Upon receiving the award, Ramirez expressed, “I went into IT because I took an Intro to Networking class here at Huron High School and thought it was pretty cool. I eventually saved enough money to build my own computer which I still have and work on.”

He continued, “I have great coworkers, great mentors, a great boss, and many friends here at the facility. I’m filled with joy to have received an award from HRMC and am honored and privileged to be able to work here right out of school from Lake Area Technical College.”

Ramirez was born in Huntington, New York and moved to Huron at a young age. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, family, and his two cats. He also enjoys sourcing computer parts and building computers.

Patients or visitors can nominate caregivers and employees to receive recognition at huronregional.org/recognition-awards or by calling 605-353-6572.
