Tables in the National Guard Armory were set up and arranged by sex and size to make finding the perfect sweatshirt or pair of pants a breeze. Each family member receives two outfits, a coat, hat, gloves, socks, blanket and boots. At least 500 pairs of new boots will be given away this year. The Clothing Giveaway continues today from 9 a.m. to noon.
Next, two helpers at the Church of Christ annual Clothing Giveaway stand behind a table laden with blankets of all sizes from infant to adult. The boxes behind them are three deep and hold the 3,500 new blankets that were donated for this year’s event.
And next, coats were hung on racks by size and helpers assist parents and children find the desired fit and color. Volunteers registered about 150 families in the first 15 minutes when the doors opened at 5 p.m. Friday. The line of those waiting snaked out the front door of the National Guard Armory to the street and extended into the parking lot.For the complete article see the 10-06-2012 issue.
