HURON — Two teenage males being detained at the Beadle County Juvenile Detention Center escaped after overpowering a guard Tuesday night but were captured by authorities in Huron Wednesday morning.
Sheriff Doug Solem said the 16- and 17-year-old boys escaped the detention center at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after choking the female guard to the point she lost consciousness. The guard was taken to the Huron Regional Medical Center emergency room for examination.
Solem said the boys were found at a house in the area of Eighth Street and Dakota Avenue South at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.
He said charges are pending against the two teens.
