HOWARD – A two-vehicle crash six miles west of Howard on Highway 34 claimed the life of one person and seriously injured a second, authorities said.
John Michael Steinmetz, 39, of Howard, was eastbound in a 2006 Pontiac Torrent when he drove into the path of a westbound 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Terry Lee Dragseth, 51, of Mitchell.
Steinmetz, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was dead at the scene. Dragseth, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Mitchell hospital.
The accident happened at 5:20 p.m. Thursday.
The Highway Patrol is investigating. The Miner County Sheriff’s office, Howard Ambulance and Howard Fire Department assisted.For the complete article see the 12-01-2012 issue.
