First National Bank of South Dakota recently donated $1,000 to the Huron Backpack Program. The funds were raised by giving $1 for every signature on the card being held by Ben Ward and Hilary Ward. Holding the check are Carole Davis, FNBSD’s Pamela Browning and Bill Davis. According to Browning with bank has been a vital part of South Dakota communities for over 50 years. “Huron is a welcoming and progressive community. Donating to the Huron Backpack Program is our way of thanking the community for all of their support,” said Browning. The program packs “backpacks” each week for students whose families may struggle to feed them on the weekends. The backpackers will be packing at the usual time, 2:50 p.m. every Wednesday until Dec. 19. when they will break for the Christmas holiday. The program is currently serving around 370 children per week. For the complete article see the 12-02-2012 issue.
