No. 5 Lady Blackhawks cruise past JVC in 281: Selland eclipses 1,000-point milestone in victory for SC-W

HURON — Shelby Selland eclipsed the 1,000-career point milestone for No. 5-ranked Sanborn Central-Woonsocket during an 84-43 victory against James Valley Christian on Tuesday night at the JVC gym.

The Lady Blackhawks, who improved to 18-1overall and 7-0 in the 281 Conference, outscored JVC 31-2 in the second quarter to stake a 51-14 lead at the half.

Marissa Weber had 19 points to lead four players in double figures for Sanborn Central-Woonsocket. Myah Selland had 16 points off the bench, while Rachelle Moore and Shelby Selland added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Lady Blackhawks controlled the boards, with a 35-16 advantage. Myah Selland pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Candace Page-Marten and Moore each had six assists and both had six steals.

Tara Nihart finished with a game-high 20 points for James Valley Christian, which is now 10-9 overall and 4-3 in the 281. Jaclyn Loban also reached double figures with 13 points, while Hannah Loban added six points.

Nihart and Hannah Loban each had five rebounds for the Lady Vikings. Hannah Loban had three assists, while Jaclyn Loban had four steals.

De Smet 35, Arlington 21

DE SMET — Despite not having a player reach double figures in the scoring column, the No. 3-ranked De Smet Lady Bulldogs recorded a 35-21 victory against Arlington on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs held Arlington scoreless in the second quarter and limited the Lady Cards to just two points in the third quarter en route to the victory.

Grayson Gruenhagen had nine points to lead De Smet, while Rylie Osthus added six points. Brittany Eichacker and Kayla Anderson added five and four points, respectively.

Osthus and Amanda Poppen shared the rebounding honors for the Lady Bulldogs, with four boards each. Shelace Albrecht had three assists, while Kayla Anderson and Gruenhagen each had three steals.

Sami Boeck had 10 points and six rebounds to lead Arlington.

Sully Buttes 74, SBA 20

MILLER — Karlea Stahl had 17 points to lead four players in double figures, as Sully Buttes defeated Sunshine Bible Academy 74-20 on Tuesday.

Chloe Lamb had 16 points for the Lady Chargers, while Racquel Wientjes and Kayla Nelson added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Stahl also had 14 rebounds to help Sully Buttes, which improved to 16-3, to a 39-28 advantage on the boards.

Shanna Moreland had eight points to lead the Lady Crusaders, who had no more than four points in each of the final three quarters. Tricia Wilken and Sierra Young each had three points.

Wilken and Moreland each pulled down six rebounds.

SBA 58, Sully Buttes 49

MILLER — Jaden Brockel had 15 points to lead Sunshine Bible Academy to a 58-49 victory against Sully Buttes on Tuesday.

Also reaching double figures for the Crusaders, who improved to 7-9, were Brian LaDue with 13 points, Drew McClain with 11 points and Brady Brockel with 10 points.

SBA held a 37-34 edge on the boards, with LaDue grabbing 10 rebounds. Jaden Brockel had five assists and LaDue had three steals.

Braydon Wittler had a game-high 19 points for the Chargers (7-10), while Scott Senftner added 12 points and had eight rebounds.
