WESSINGTON — A Huron man is recovering in a Sioux Falls hospital after sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a one-car accident northeast of Wessington.
The Highway Patrol said Dustin Fliehe, 30, was westbound shortly after 8 a.m. Monday when he fell asleep and the car went into the ditch.
It came back on the road, hit a bridge guardrail, went airborne and went end over end, sliding in the ditch and catching fire.
Fliehe was able to get out of the vehicle without getting burned. He was taken by ambulance to Huron Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Sioux Falls.
The accident happened at 196th Street and 382nd Avenue. Alcohol was not a factor. He was cited for careless driving and not wearing a seatbelt.
The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Beadle County Sheriff’s office and Wessington Ambulance and Fire departments. For the complete article see the 07-24-2014 issue.
