WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. — Opal Roach, 87, of White Bear Lake and formerly of Rockham, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Comforts of Homes Nursing Home in White Bear Lake.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Miller. Burial will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery at Miller. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Rembold Funeral Home.
Opal Jean DeGeest was born Aug. 5, 1925, to Cornelius and Grace (Wilson) DeGeest. She attended North School by Ree Heights and graduated from Miller High School in 1943.
On Feb. 21, 1944, she married Robert Roach at Wessington. They lived on a farm in northern Hand County. She joined the Catholic church and loved flowers, gardening, music, playing cards, golfing and traveling.
She is survived by five daughters, Connie (Bob) Haigh of Madison, Cheryle (Steve) O’Connell of Beloit, Wis., Bobbie Sargent of New Richmond, Wis., Debbie (Mike) Doyle of Shoreview, Minn., and Susan Carlsten of South St. Paul, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marylou Saville of Pomona, Calif.; and a brother, Robert of Redfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Isabel Lechtenburg, Wilma Baule and Vera Dean.
