Margie North, age 89, of Huron, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9th, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Marc Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8th, at the Kuhler Funeral Home with her family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Monday at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Margie Helen North was born Feb. 18, 1923, to John and Sarah (Hatfield) Herron in Armour, South Dakota. Margie moved with her family to the Alexandria area where they farmed.
Margie married the love of her life, Marvin (Ike) North, on June 27, 1939, at Gann Valley. They moved to the Huron area. Ike worked on the railroad and Margie managed the house, helped with families and raised their two sons, Donald and Douglas.
Margie enjoyed canning, crocheting, embroidering and spending time with her family. She was always the rock of the family and could be counted on.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband; her son Donald; her daughter-in-law, Wilma; her parents; six brothers; and six sisters.
Grateful to have shared in Margie’s life are her family. They include her son, Douglas (Pam) of Huron; six grandchildren, Scott (Kristen) of Richmond, Wisconsin, Roxane of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Craig (Melissa) of Emerald Brove, Wisconsin, Brenda (Tom) Gausman of Detroit Lakes, MN, Lisa (Richard) Engels of Hartford, and Sara (John) Bovill of Beresford; seven great-grandchildren, Tanner, McKenna, Alliah, Taylor, and Travis, Mya, and Konrad; and a dear friend Sarah Gilbert of Huron.
