CRESBARD — Darlene (Melius) Holmberg, 86, of Cresbard, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Faulkton Healthcare Center.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Cresbard with the Rev. Julie Nygaard officiating. Burial will follow in Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton.
Darlene Melius was born at Cresbard Nov. 24, 1925, to Edwin and Frankie (Horning) Melius. She attended Cresbard School and a summer at Northern Teachers College. She taught in country schools in Edmunds and Faulk counties.
She married Clarence Holmberg June 21, 1947. She was a member of Cresbard United Methodist Church and Devoe Circle, Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary, Faulk County Extension Homemakers Club and was a 4-H leader. She loved gardening, sewing, taking care of her sheep and winters in Arizona.
She is survived by five children, Harold (Danette) of Peoria, Ariz., Roy of Cresbard, Cheryl Holmberg of Cresbard, Linda Ertz of Aberdeen and Sandra (Kent) Juhnke of Vivian; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Eila Blikeng of Mount Ranch, Calif.; a brother, Lyle (Vonnie) of Cresbard; and three sisters-in-law, Darlene (Pat) Keefe, Marilyn Connell and Sharron (Joe) Pogany, all of Rapid City.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two grandsons.
