LAKE PRESTON — Agnes Sofia Spilde, 99, of Lake Preston, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at North Preston Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wanda McNeill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel in Lake Preston and prior to the service.
Agnes Sofia Gustafson was born May 12, 1913, to John and Rachel (Braaten) Gustafson on a farm near Bryant. She attended Bryant school through the ninth grade. On June 9, 1936, she married Leander Spilde at Lake Preston.
They farmed for several years on the Spilde homestead near Badger. They moved to an acreage in Lake Preston. She was the dietician at the nursing home in Lake Preston for many years. She enjoyed baking lefse, quilting, crocheting, gardening and playing cards and dominos.
She is survived by three children, LeRoy (Dora) of Castleton, N.D., Carol (Floyd) Prouty of Sioux Falls and Leland (Diane) of Ramona; a sister, Florence Brenden; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Arvid, Herbert, George, Clarence and John Elmer; and a sister, Ruth.
