MAX, N.D. — Leone M. Gray, 97, of Max and formerly of Huron, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Garrison Memorial Hospital in Garrison, N.D.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Welter Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Visit welterfuneralhome.com.
Leone Martha Ibis was born to William and Ernestina (Wollman) Ibis May 11, 1915, at Freeman. She attended country school and attended a year of business school. She worked as a waitress for the Green Thumb and the Senior Citizens Center in Minot, N.D., for many years. She also worked for Swift and Company, and the Armour Meat Packing Company.
She married Dick Gray Dec. 23, 1937, at Custer. She lived in Rapid City and Denver before moving to Huron in 1948. In 1979, she moved to Garrison and then to Minot in 1989. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, pheasant hunting, baking, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by a son, Melvin (Carol) of Max; a daughter, Beverly Owens of Minot; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Johanna Honey of Spicer, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Norrine Levy; four brothers, William, Arnold, Richard and Arthur; and four sisters, Molly Stirley, Katie Stitzenbecher, Pauline Johannsen and Eleanora Roloft.
