BRUCE — Hildur Della Janet Nilson Ulvestad, 80, of Bruce, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2012, at the Brookings hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
Hildur Nilson was born Oct. 18, 1932, at Volga to Alexander and Magnhild (Johnson) Nilson. She graduated from Bruce High School in 1951. She attended General Beadle State Teachers College in Madison and South Dakota State University. She taught rural school for seven years in the Bruce area. She was confirmed in the Methodist church at Bruce.
On June 26, 1955, she married Wesley Ulvestad at Bruce. They purchased a farm in 1961 northeast of Bruce. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the ladies aid, Bruce Community Club and Livewire Club. She taught Sunday and Bible schools and enjoyed dancing, cards, taking pictures, cross stitching, crafts and collecting dishes. She nursed her husband for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Darwin (Denise) and Dave (Lisa), all of Bruce; a daughter, Kristen (Greg) Bich of Cavour; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and an infant daughter, Jane.
