Posted: Tuesday, Jan 8th, 2013

PASO ROBLES, Calif. — Ellis “Andy” Anderson, 91, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at home in Paso Robles.

Ellis was born in South Dakota on Aug. 25, 1921, to Marval and Engle Anderson. He spent his childhood in his beloved town or Cavour and as a young adult moved to the neighboring town of Huron. Ellis always had a deep love for his family: his mom, Marval; brothers, Kenneth and Dale; and baby sister, Donna. His father died when Ellis was only 4 years old, leaving a young widow and four young children. Ellis had a winning personality even as a small boy and grew up to be quite a ‘story teller.’ He loved to tell stories of Cavour and growing up in the depression.

In 1943 Ellis married Delores Jorgensen, a red-haired beauty that would be his partner for the next 70 years. Ellis and Delores moved to California in 1945 and had their daughter, Denise, in 1946. They made their home in the San Fernando Valley. Ellis became a successful business owner and Delores had a long and very successful career at Lockheed in Burbank, Calif., as an executive secretary. In 1990 they retired and moved to Paso Robles.

All through his life he entertained his friends and family with his jokes, his love for life and his great cooking! Ellis was a great dad to his daughter, Denise. He was a loving, involved and supportive grandpa to his grandchildren: Steven (Linda) Vandenberg, Amy (Brady) Taylor and Dan (Ginger) Vandenberg. He also had six great-grandchildren, Dakota, Bailee, Kylee, Olivia, Jake and Bradley.

Ellis was preceded in death by his infant sister, Iris; father, Engle; brother, Dale; and mother, Marval.

Ellis had a great love for the Lord and enjoyed attending church all through his live. He and Delores were members of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Templeton, Calif., and enjoyed their membership there for the last 20 years.

We will miss Ellis as a husband, dad, grandpa and friend and find comfort in knowing that we will all meet again.
