HURON — Helen Larson, age 91, of Huron, died Monday evening, January 7, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Terry Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation. Helen Hintz Larson was born April 26, 1921, in LeMars, Iowa, to Frank and Genevieve Margaret (Bauer) Hintz. She graduated from LeMars High School in 1939.
On September 3, 1946, she married Kenneth Earl Larson in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked for Sears and continued to work for Sears when they moved to Huron.
She was a long-time member of St. Martin Catholic Church.
She liked sewing, baking, dancing, shopping, and yard work. Helen was a pet lover and enjoyed numerous dogs as her pets throughout the years. She always remembered her children and grandchildren with cards on birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
Helen had a stroke on Christmas Day. The family especially thanks her caregivers, Laurie Marcus and Susan Neiffer, the second floor staff at Huron Regional Medical Center and Dr. Akash Taggarse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenny, her great-grandson, Leyton Burnison, and five siblings, Robert, Bill, Alice, Gerry and Peter.
She is survived by her children, Judy (David) Morrow of McMinnville, OR, Jacque (Tim) Burnison of Sioux Falls, Jill (Tim) Nihart of Huron, Denis (Mary) Larson of Salt Lake City, UT, David Larson of Henderson, NV, and Donnie (Lynn) Larson of Huron; fifteen grandchildren, Cara (Cabell Wilkes) Morrow, Jared (Rachel) Morrow, Sean (Courtney) Christman, Josh (Shannon Clark) Christman, Aron Larson, Jamie (Doug) Anthony, Amber Larson, Eric (Sara) Burnison, Shaun (Kelly Dirks) Burnison, Adam Burnison, Alee (Brian) Robertson, Alex (Megan) Larson, Justin Nihart, Tia Nihart and Tara Nihart; fifteen great-grandchildren, Keolani and Liam Morrow, Evan Wilkes, Peyton, Xander, Quinton, Jace, and Cole Christman, Kyle and Ethan Anthony, Mercedez DeWald, Paisley and Kinsley Burnison, Daemon Robertson and Emily Larson; a sister, Mary Frances (Jim) Redl of Lewiston, Id; and long-time friends, Ruth Cooper, Margaret Jean Johnston and Ruth and Marlin Nihart.
