SPEARFISH — Alice McCarthy, 94, of Spearfish, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at home.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Alice E. Stewart was born March 8, 1918, to Rush and Emma (Winsel) Stewart.
She graduated from Artesian High School in 1937.
She married Jess McCarthy and they lived in the Fedora-Artesian area. In 1949, they moved to Huron and in 1962, they moved to Spearfish.
She worked as a cook, her last job was at West Elementary. She enjoyed cooking lunch for the children and playing card games.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth (Rollie) Mayberry of Vancouver, Wash., Deanna (Frank) Walton of Belle Fourche and Mary (Mike) Morgan of Spearfish; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob (Shirley) of Custer.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Jeanne Gould; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Clyde, Madison and Paul; and three sisters, Evelyn, Florence and Mabel.
