HURON — Frances L. Watson, 89, of Huron, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the United Methodist Church at Hitchcock with the Rev. Timothy Vorlage officiating. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery. Frances Lorraine Larsen was born July 10, 1923, to Waldemar and Esther (Buchholz) Larsen on a farm northeast of Hitchcock. She attended Northern State Teacher’s College at Aberdeen.
On Nov. 21, 1945, she married Raymond Gerald Watson at Hitchcock. Frances worked for six years as a nurses’ aide at James Valley Nursing Home at Redfield.
She belonged to Legion Auxiliary, served on the election board, and was associate leader of the Belmont Baby Beef 4-H Club. She was a member of the Get-To-Gether Extension Club, Merry Mixers Club, and United Methodist Women. She was also the Northern District Secretary and Editor of By-Lines for four years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Helen Schone.
She is survived by her children, Walda (Paul) Benker, William (Pat) Watson, Rollie (Lisa) Watson and Nancy (James) Hein, all of Huron; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcella Parsons, Custer; one brother-in-law, Donald Schone, Bellingham, Wash.; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn (Junior) Newman, Redfield.For the complete article see the 01-31-2013 issue.
