FAULKTON — Ben Hushka, 88, of Faulkton, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen. Burial Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Faulkton. Burial will be in the Groton Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service and 7 p.m. prayer service, all at the church.
Benjamin Frank was born Feb. 8, 1924 to Joseph and Katie (Steier) Hushka on a farm near Dickinson, N.D. He worked in the Grain Elevator Business for nearly 50 years. On Nov. 16, 1948, Ben married Josephine “Jo” Paluck. He later became a co-owner and manager of the B&W Elevator Supply Company, and created Ben’s Elevator and Cleaner Service.
He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, playing bingo and fishing. He is survived by his children, DuWayne (Diane) Hushka of Faulkton, Ben (Marcie) Hushka of Fargo, N.D., and Deb (Jeff) Richardson of Blaine, Minn.; one sister, Barbara (Melvin) Kaufman of Pierre; one brother, Joe (Eleanor) Hushka of Richmond, Ill.; two sisters-in-law: Emma Hushka of Minot, N.D. and Margaret Hushka of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine; two brothers: Tony and Tom; one sister, Rose, and one infant brother.
Memorials can be made to the Autumn Leaves Senior Center in Faulkton, or the charity of your choice.
