HURON — JoAnn Claassen, 74, of Huron, died March 9, 2013, in McAllen, Texas, her winter home.
A memorial service will be held at American Lutheran Church on March 20, 2013, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating.
JoAnn was born in Cavour to Frieda and Harold Scheele on Aug. 17, 1938. She attended elementary and middle school in Huron and Murdo and completed a GED later in life. JoAnn spent most of her career working as a custodian. She held that position at the National Guard Armory for over twenty years and she retired from this position in the late 90’s. She was a member of the American Lutheran church. She enjoyed fishing, flowers, reading, board games and spending time with her family. She loved spending time with her cousins, Doris, Charmaine, Donna and her close friends Lila, Delma and Roseanne.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Frieda and Harold; one brother, Daniel; and a younger sister, Judith in infancy.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Marvin Claassen of Huron, three brothers, David(Gladys) Scheele, San Antonio, Texas, James (Luana) Scheele, Huron, Robert Scheele, Congress, Ariz., and one sister, Betty (Reginald) Derksen, Huron and one sister-in-law, Brenda Scheele of Hutchinson, Minn.; two sons, Rick Weber and companion, Debra Hartz of Marion and Randy (Donna)Weber of Huron; a daughter Karla Weber and companion, Kim of Minneapolis; eight “bugs” grandchildren, Aimee (Kelly) Deckert, Sioux City, Iowa, Christina (Tim) Affeldt, Woodbury, Minn., Erin (Jeremy) Sanford, Brandon, Trista (Mark) Stegeman, Ironton, Minn., Chelsey Weber, Sioux Falls, Shannon Weber, Woodbury, Minn., Ivan and Ramone McKeithan, Minneapolis, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
