DE SMET — Robert E. McAdaragh, 75, of De Smet, died at his home on Saturday. Services will be held on Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in De Smet, 11 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Osthus Funeral Home in De Smet. Burial will be in the St Thomas Catholic Cemetery, De Smet. Arrangements are being handled by Osthus Funeral Home.
Robert Edward McAdaragh was born March 24, 1937, on his family’s farm, 9 miles south of De Smet. He graduated from St. Agatha Catholic High School, Howard, in 1955. After graduation, he worked for the State Highway Department in Huron and worked with his father on the farm.
He married Joanne Davis on Sept.18, 1965, in Huron. He moved to the farm in 1970. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in De Smet. He enjoyed grilling, having coffee, and working on his farm.
He is survived by his wife Joanne, of Huron; a daughter, Kathleen McAdaragh of De Smet and her fiancé, Mark Halligan of Brandon; one sister, Mary Joan Waddell, Sioux Falls; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Davis, Huron; two grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William, one sister, Dorrie Hegna, and two brothers-in-law, Doug Hegna and Hymie Waddell. For the complete article see the 03-19-2013 issue.
