MILLER — Joan Davis, 72, of Miller died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. Joan’s memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visit www.remboldfuneralhome.com.
Alice Joan Davis was born Dec. 4, 1940, at her grandparents’ home near Burdette to Harold and Alice (Walton) Harrington.
She married Russell Davis on Oct. 1, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Miller. She lived her entire life in Miller, working as a housewife, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Avon saleswoman, and a bailiff for the Hand County Clerk of Courts.
She was very active in the 8 Ball Pool League. She enjoyed reading, camping, playing pool and playing games at the Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Russ; daughter Rhonda (Lyle) Rowen of Miller; sons, Jerry (Gloria) Davis of Sioux Falls, Larry Davis of Belleville, Kansas; four grandkids and four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Butts of Fedora, Betty (Tuffy) Orr of Aberdeen, Dorothy (Keith) Willard of Belle Fourche; brother Richard (Jeannie) Harrington of Redfield; her husband’s families and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Steven Allen Davis.
