SIOUX FALLS — Velma Carlson, 91, of Sioux Falls, and formerly of Lebanon, died Monday, May 6, 2013.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday in the Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, with the Rev. Jeff Adel officiating.
Velma Rodman was born to Joe and Blanche (Rawstern) Rodman on a farm northeast of Hitchcock on Oct. 30, 1921. She graduated from high school in Wolsey in 1939.
She married Clarence Carlson on March 1, 1945. She worked for Inez Voight’s grocery store for five years. She was then employed at Jim Cameron’s grocery store in Gettysburg until her retirement.
She is survived by three sons, Randy (Cora) of Sandy, Utah; Douglas (Patty) of Maple Grove, Minn.; and Larry (Ev) of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Marlene Rodman of Olathe, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2009; parents; one brother; two sisters (including her twin, Thelma); an infant brother and an infant sister.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Velma’s arrangements.
