HURON — Margie Serbick, 88, of Huron, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron with the Rev. Allen Sager officiating and burial in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 to 8 p.m., at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. tonight at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Margie Alice Wahl was born April 3, 1925, to Ivan K. and Martha C. (Donner) Wahl at Carpenter.
On June 18, 1942, she married Nick Serbick at Stapleton, Neb. They lived in Omaha for about a year, then moved to Huron. She worked at a few restaurants as a waitress and cook. She also worked at an ammunition production plant. She was a meat trimmer for 33 years at Armour’s.
She was a member of the UCT, Rebekah’s, Ladies of the Moose, the Wesleyan Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed making annual trips to the west coast, gardening, traveling, dancing and playing the accordion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of more than 55 years, Nick, on January 31, 1998; two brothers in infancy; and one sister, Delores Tilbury.
She is survived by her children, Joseph “Butch” (Carol) Serbick of Portland, Oregon, Jeanette (Bill) Meursing of Point Roberts, Washington, Diane (Frank) Thomas of Huron, Dick (Barbara) Serbick, and Darlene (Tom) Lewis, both of Portland, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great -great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.For the complete article see the 06-26-2013 issue.
