HURON — Carol Ahlstrom, 79, of Huron, and formerly of Hitchcock, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Riverview United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dean Trapp officiating. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery at Hitchcock. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. Memorials may be directed to the Beadle County Adult Nutrition Center Meals On Wheels.
Carol Ann Brock was born June 16, 1934, to Karl and Estella (Morse) Brock at Huron. She graduated from Hitchcock High School.
On June 16, 1952, she married Floyd W. Ahlstrom at Webster.
She was a houseparent at the South Dakota Development Center in Redfield for 27 years. She was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church, the Hitchcock Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #84 at Hitchcock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on May 7, 2001; her son, Kelvin, on Oct. 20, 2011; one grandson; two brothers, Keith and Arden Brock; and one sister, Jeannette Schesser.
She is survived by Kathleen (Bill) Hill of Casper, Wyo., Sheila (Darrel) Hampton of Wolsey; Yvonne (Dennis Hauger) Leith of Irene; Lynette (Rod) Jungemann of Wolsey and Vonita Gardner of Sioux Falls; one daughter-in-law, Susan Ahlstrom of Bonilla; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth (Curt) Weber of Huron; one brother, Bud (Gail) Brock of Hitchcock; and three sisters-in-law, Anna Fay Brock of Webster, Marvella Kuehl of Huron, and Phyllis Arne of Huron.For the complete article see the 07-04-2013 issue.
