HURON ó Ted North, 84, of Huron, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at SunQuest Village in Huron.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Welter Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service; or Tuesday afternoon one hour prior to the service. Visit welterfuneralhome.com.
Ted North was born on Feb. 4, 1929, near Howard to Frank and Mable (Bates) North. He attended schools in Fedora and Miner County.
He married Joyce Hofer on Feb. 21, 1948, in Woonsocket. The couple made their home in Huron.†He worked at Armours for many years until the plant closed.†He and his wife then started Tedís Upholstery business, where they worked together for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bowling. He was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church, National Bowling Association, and several bowling leagues.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce North of Huron; three daughters, Kathleen (Ron) West of Huron, Karen (Joe) Schnell of Lake Preston, and Debra (Michael) Bathke of George, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister Carolyn Styer of Huron; two sisters-in-law, Ann North of Howard, and Carol North of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; a grandson; seven sisters, Goldie, Ella, Alice, Madge, Sylvia, Sarah and Nellie; and seven brothers, Arthur, Harold, Marvin, Lloyd, Leon, Darwin and Delbert.For the complete article see the 08-25-2013 issue.
