REE HEIGHTS ó Ted Schaff, 57, of Ree Heights, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Burial mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Annís Catholic Church, Miller with the Rev. Chester Murtha officiating.
Ted Schaff was born in Bismarck, N.D. to Frank and Delores (Miller) Schaff. He graduated from Flasher High School. He then worked construction around the Bismarck area, later working road construction jobs. He then worked in the oil fields in Dickinson, N.D. Later, he moved to Alaska to mine gold. He began his own farming operations afterwards.
In 1984, he married Annette Hoff. In 1990, he and his family moved to Ree Heights where he spent the next 20 years as a dairy farmer with his sons.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his three sons, Theodore, Jr., Weston and Austin Schaff; wife, Annette Hoff; mother, Delores (Clarence) Morris; siblings, Frank (Sharon) Schaff, Jerry (Brenda) Schaff, Ben Schaff, Susan (friend, Daryl) Schaff and Peggy (Nate) Erstad; six nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank A. Schaff, Sr.; great nephew, Caleb Schaff; and grandparents, Adam and Anna Schaff and Max and Anna Miller.
The family invites anyone who owns a motorcycle to ride it to the funeral.
