WESSINGTON SPRINGS ó Gerald Horsley 89, of Wessington Springs, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at the Weskota Manor/Avera Health in Wessington Springs.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviorís Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sara Olson Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery, rural Wessington Springs. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Our Saviorís Lutheran Church with the family present from 6 to 7 and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Gerald Merle Horsley was born to Emery and Catherine (Davis) Horsley on March 25, 1924, on a farm near Wessington Springs.
On Sept. 20, 1953, he married Beverly Monroe.
He enjoyed working as as a farmer, especially working with and caring for livestock.
He served on numerous boards in the community and church.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Beverly; five children; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and his sister, Ferne Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Milton, and Keith (in infancy); and his sister, Helen Patton.
