Bea Pourier Fisher Fortune, 78, of Wall

WALL — Bea Pourier Fisher Fortune, 78, of Wall, died Oct. 8, 2013, at the Rapid City Regional Hospice Auxiliary House in Rapid City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 221 Knollwood Drive, Rapid City with a Wake/Rosary Service at 7 p.m.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. David Matzko, S.J. officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City. The family will be establishing a memorial. Bea Fern Pourier Fisher Fortune was born to John and Pearl (O’Rourke) Pourier on July 25, 1935,  at the Cain Creek Ranch south of Emily.  She attended school at the Emily Elementary and Rapid City Central.

In 1951 she married Duane Fisher from Rapid City and later was blessed to share her life with 7 children.  She  lived in Rapid City until 1968, when they relocated to Huron. In 1979 she moved back to Rapid City and worked at Lady Bee’s Dress Shop until she enrolled in college at the Oglala Lakota College in Kyle. She obtained college credit hours beyond her Associates of Arts degree in General Education in 1989. She was employed at Project Phoenix, a drug and alcohol treatment center located at Kyle as a counselor and finished her career as a high school guidance counselor at the Red Cloud Indian School, Holy Rosary Mission and Pine Ridge.

In 1990, Bea married Vern Fortune. They lived on their Ranch near Kyle. Her hobbies on the ranch included reading, growing many beautiful flowers and tending to her yard. Bea had a very special bond with her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed watching them compete in their rodeo events.

At the time of her death she resided in Wall.

She is survived by her husband, Vern Fortune, Wall,  five children: Bill (Liz) Fisher, Huron; Coy(Liz) Fisher, Scenic; Darla (Randy) Wilson, Colman; Donna  (Dan)Curr, Scenic; Art (Cindy) Fisher, Kyle; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren,  one sister, Madeline Steen,  Rapid City, one brother, Gerald (Sonnie) Pourier, Scenic and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bea was proceeded in death by her two daughters, Dianne Lynn and Bobbie Jo, her parents, John and Pearl Pourier, one sister, Verna Heathershaw, two brothers, Loren and Jackie Pourier.

Arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City.
