FAULKTON — Maxine Wahlen, 90, of Faulkton, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Church of Faulkton with the Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Faulkton Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with visitation one hour prior.
Maxine Ethel Stanley was born June 9, 1923, at home near Chelsea to William G. and Alpha (Van Horn) Stanley. She graduated from Cresbard in 1941.
On June 11, 1942, she married Ray Wahlen in Pierre. She worked for Faulk County for 37 years, mostly in the Director of Equalization office.
She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, having picnics, reading and knitting.
She was a member of the United Church of Faulkton, the Ladies Circle, the VFW Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her children, Vernon Wahlen of Faulkton; Roger (Micki) Wahlen of St. Charles, Ill., Linda (Nick) Roseland of Pierre and Marsha (Pat) Huss of Brighton, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Jacque Frisenger of Moorhead, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Stanley; one great-great-granddaughter; and four brothers, Harland, Glen, Kenneth and Elden.
