TULARE — Margaret Jockheck, 96, of Tulare, formerly of the Bonilla area, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Tulare.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bonilla First Presbyterian Church with burial at Altoona Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation with family present will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m., or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
Margaret M. Renner was born to Fred and Susan (Engel) Renner on Jan. 20, 1917, in Bridgewater.
She performed domestic work for various families in the area. She lived in Huron for three years and worked as a cook and general housekeeper at the House of Engels dorm on the Huron College campus. She then worked for Valet Cleaners.
On June 22, 1945, she married Donald Jockheck at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. They farmed together after her husband’s discharge from the Army. She was a member of the Bonilla Presbyterian Church since 1947.
She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and cooking.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Ronald) Neeman of Tulare; two grandsons; five great-granddaughters; many foster grandchildren and foster great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on Feb. 12, 2004; one son, Martin “Marty” Jockheck; 12 brothers and sisters, Henry, Freddie, Elizabeth “Betty” Klaas, Benjamin, August, William, Georgie, Melinda Renner, Louise Dunnick, Johnny, Floyd and Rose Bartel.
