HOWARD — Mae Klinkhammer-Hendricks 83, of Howard, died on Jan. 7, 2014, in Sun Tan Valley, Ariz.
Burial mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Howard. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard with the Rev. Paul Josten officiating. Visitation will begin Sunday at 5 p.m. with a wake and rosary service at 7 p.m. at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Howard. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Howard.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1930, to Margaret (Neises) and John Gassman.
She graduated from St. Agatha Catholic School in 1948.
On Jan. 18, 1930, she married George Klinkhammer. They owned a dairy farm south of Howard. She enjoyed dancing, traveling to all 50 states and golfing. After 51 years together, George died and she married Dale Hendricks, who had also lost a spouse of 51 years. They shared seven years together. She was a driver for Head-Start and worked at Winks, Ravens, Grow-Joy and Wrap It/PBM.She was an active member of St. Agatha Catholic Church.
She enjoyed playing cards and dominos, having coffee, attending Red Hatter gatherings, tending to her flowers, crocheting and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two unborn children; twin infant great-grandchildren; a sister, Cecilia Klinkhammer; two brothers, Edmund and Bernard Gassman; and brother-in-law, Walt Klinkhammer.
She is survived by her 10 children, Rick (Janet) of Tea, Terry (Donna), Jim (Kim), Lanny (Amy) , Kim (Phyllis), Daron (Sharon) and Amy (Steve), all of Howard, Greg (Patty) of Sioux Falls, Lynette of Flower Mound, Texas and Paul (Tami) of Wichita, Kan.; brother, Myron Gassman; sisters-in-law Ardella Gassman and Delores (Walt) Kampshoff; 39 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
