HIGHMORE — Arnold Rittel, 86, of Highmore, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at the Highmore Health, Highmore.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Highmore with the Rev. Kori Lehrkamp officiating. Burial will follow at the Highmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service, all at Luze Funeral Home, Highmore.
Arnold Eddy Rittel was born in Eagle Township to Elizabeth (Bitterman) and John Rittel on February 27, 1927. He was the youngest of five children. He attended Highmore High School.
He married Ethel Mae in Onida on Oct. 9, 1955.
He enjoyed trips to the Black Hills and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ethel of Highmore; twin daughters, Ronnette (Jim) Coe of St. Peters, Mo. and Renee Pavlik of Mount Dora, Fla.; sons, Randy Rittel of Huron and Ryan (Kris) Rittel of Highmore; seven grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Edna Foth and Dorothy Schmitgen of Harrold, Marie Schmitgen of Pierre and Marlene Rittel of Yankton; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
