Donna Mae Langbehn, 89, of Wolsey

WOLSEY — Donna Mae Langbehn, age 89, of Wolsey, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Terry R. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Wolsey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 at the Kuhler Funeral Home with her family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening.   There will be a scripture service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to the Rapid City Regional Hospice House of the Hills and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. 

Donna Mae Langbehn was born on Aug. 7, 1924, to Eldon M. Johnson and Gladys (Sullivan) Johnson.  She grew up in Huron, attended St. Teresa School and Huron Public school and graduated in 1943.  She attended St. Joseph College of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated in 1946 as a Registered Nurse.

Donna Mae’s career as a registered nurse included Sprague Hospital, St. Johns Hospital, Huron Clinic, Tschetter Hohm Clinic, Wolsey Public School nurse and retired from the Huron Nursing Home.

Donna Mae Johnson married Kenneth Langbehn on June 5, 1948, at St. Martins Catholic Church in Huron. They lived in Huron until 1951, and then moved to a farm near Wolsey. In 1995, they moved into the town of Wolsey.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic parish, nursing organizations, Happy Homemakers, Wolsey Senior Center and a Bible study group.  Donna Mae volunteered at St. Francis Thrift Shop in Huron, Wolsey Legion Auxiliary and she made tapes for the blind. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Gladys Johnson; her husband, Kenneth in 1996; and son, Richard Langbehn in 2008.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Thomas (Gayle) Langbehn of Durant, Iowa; daughters, Jane (Randy) Glanzer of Black Hawk and Julie (Robert) Haley of Escondido, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Mary Langbehn of Wolsey; grandchildren, Kristie Langbehn, Kari (Chet) DeCastecker, Michael (Bobbie) Langbehn, Patrick (Sammi) Hiles, Nichole (Courtney) Stahnke, Eugene (Hillary) Stahnke, Brian (Lindsay) Haley, Daniel Haley, Rob (Jodi) Glanzer, and Callie Glanzer; great-grandchildren, Karson Olerich, Connor and Cassidy Langbehn, Kira and Kellen DeCastecker, Weston and Jace Hiles, Jackson Stahnke, and Riley, Sophie and Abby Glanzer, and Madilyn Jacobsen; sister, Betty Jean Tschetter; sister-in-law, Francis Langbehn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
