MILLER — Don Cable, 81, of Miller, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society of Miller.
Celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron.
Donald Earl was born on Sept. 28, 1932, to John James and Sarah Miranda (Bookstaver Shaw) Cable. He attended school in Wessington.
He served as a supply Sergeant in the Army in the 1950s.
He married Yvonne Moody of Ree Heights on July 29, 1956. He was employed with local farmers.
He later divorced and married Donna (Rath) Wurtz , whom he also divorced. He then married LaJuna Murphy. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked with and trained race horses with chariots. Later, in Freemont, Neb., he had a stable where he bred and raised registered Paint horses.
He enjoyed his horses. He also enjoyed dancing. He was a square and round dance caller.
He is survived by his four daughters, Robin (Randy) Sporrer of Miller, Donna (Randy) George of Hansen, Neb., Brenda (Robert) Haseman of Summerset, and Sarah (Brent) Woodman of Kenesaw, Neb.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Cuppy of Vancouver, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Evelyn (Wilbur) Schnabel, Florence (Donald) King, Maxine (Miles) Reeme, Janet (Raymond) Flanngan and Shirley (Roland) Berget; one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.
