MILLER — Joyce J. Simpson, 73, of Miller, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller. Burial will be at the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller.
Joyce Joan Hoffman was born to Samuel and Ida (Aman) Hoffman, on March 11, 1941, in Ashley, N.D. She graduated from high school in Braddock, N.D. in 1958.
She married Donald Simpson on Nov. 8, 1958, in Braddock, N.D. and lived in San Diego, Calif. for two years while her husband served in the Navy. She worked many years as the Deputy Clerk of Courts in the Hand County Courthouse.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, visiting, playing cards, feeding birds, and her pets. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Delmar Hoffman.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Don, of Miller, and three sons, David (Michelle) Simpson of Federal Way, Wash., Dale (Jill) Simpson of Saint Lawrence, and Robert (Lisa) Simpson of Huron; one brother, Donald (Vicky) Hoffmann of Pahrump, Nev.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
