Merriam, Deneke to join SDABA Hall of Fame

Five former standouts will be inducted into the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association Hall of Fame at a banquet this fall.
The new inductees include longtime Dell Rapids PBR teammates Dale Solberg and Bruce Mogen; Huron natives and Rapid City teammates Rod Merriam and Daryl Deneke and Tom Kessinger of Sioux Falls.

Wessington Springs amateurs advance to title game in Region 3B

WESSINGTON SPRINGS -- Wessington Springs used a pair of victories to reach the championship game of the District 3B Amateur Baseball Tournament, which started Saturday.
In the opening round, the top-seeded Owls blanked South Central 10-0. In other first round games, Kimball-White Lake defeated Plankinton 14-2, Armour upset Miller 11-7 and Four Corners defeated Chamberlain 8-4.

Huron Parks and Recreation Wobbegongs swimmer Callie Niehus competes in the 13-and-over 400 freestyle during the 2015 S.D. Long Course State Championship Meet Saturday at Huron's Splash Central Waterpark. The meet concludes today with swimming beginning around 9 a.m. and concluding around 4 p.m.

ABERDEEN -- Rylie Osthus of De Smet and Mikayla Prouty of Clark-Willow Lake had 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the South to a 60-40 victory in the girls' basketball game on Tuesday at the South Dakota All-Star Games.

ABERDEEN -- The Blue team held on for a 67-62 victory against the Red in the boys' basketball game at the South Dakota All-Star Games on Tuesday.
