MITCHELL — The Huron boys’ golf team was 14th after the opening day of the Class AA State Golf Tournament, which started Monday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
Sioux Falls Lincoln held the top spot after the opening round with a 299, followed by Sioux Falls O’Gorman at 302. Yankton was third at 308, while Aberdeen Central and Brandon Valley shared the fourth spot at 312.
The Tigers shot a 346, which put them four strokes behind Brookings for 13th and five strokes in front of Mitchell.
Cole Peterson had an 82 to lead Huron through the first 18 holes of the 36-hole event. He was tied for 42nd.
Alec Sibson had an 85 for the Tigers, while JP Noonan carded an 88. Rounding out the lineup were Colin Claeys at 91, Nolan Weigel at 92 and Riley Goeller at 93.
Sioux Falls Lincoln teammates Tommy Vinining and Parker Klitzke held the top two spots, respecitvely.
