ABERDEEN —The Huron gymnastics team finished sixth during the Aberdeen Invitational on Saturday.
Watertown used a score of 141.5 to edge Mitchell, which finished at 140.2, for the top spot in the 12-team event. Aberdeen Central was third at 136.175, followed by Sioux Falls O’Gorman at 134.575 and Pierre at 134.225.
The Tigers finished at 133.5 to edges Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Brookings by less than a point for the sixth spot.
“It was not one of our strongest competitions,” Huron coach Julie King said. “We’re hoping to get the falls out early in the season and have polished routines when it really counts.”
Jordan Waldner turned in a 9.25 on the beam to finish fourth in the event for the Tigers, while teammate Tessa Musil was 10th at 8.825.
Hailey McCune used a 9.125 score in the floor exercise to finish 11th, while Kelsey King and Jessica Waldner shared the 13th spot with scores of 9.025.
Musil and King were 14th and 15th, respectively, on the bars with scores of 8.225 and 8.2.
McCune was 18th on the vault we an 8.65
In the all-around, King was 15th at 33.65 and McCune as 23rd at 32.025.
The Tigers will close the 2012 portion of their schedule on Saturday at the Mitchell Invitational.
