ABERDEEN — The Huron Tiger Wrestling team had four wrestlers out of six win the championship round of the Aberdeen Invite to finish third overall in the tournament.
Aberdeen Central won the meet with a total score of 219 points while West Fargo (N.D.) was second with 207 and the Tigers were third with 197.
Reaching the championship match for the Tigers were Wyatt Shillingstad at 113 pounds, Chet Glanzer at 126 pounds, Hartman Katz at 152 pounds, Reagan Francom at 160 pounds, Dustin French at 195 pounds and Matt Halter at 285 pounds.
Shillingstad defeated Canton’s John Lemer by major decision 15-1.
Glanzer lost a tough overtime match to West Fargo’s Jordan Shearer 12-10.
Katz got the Tigers back to their winning ways with a 4-3 decision over West Fargo’s Kyle Kragnes.
In the next championship match Reagan Francom followed suit with a 6-4 decision over Aberdeen Roncalli’s Tyson Mitzel.
In another very close loss for the Tigers, French lost a 6-5 decision to Webster’s Chad Sjurson.
In the final championship match of the night Halter pinned Redfield-Doland’s Cody Friese in 47 seconds. Halter won the “Big Kat” heavy weight award.
Trent Francom picked a third-place finish at 106 pounds while at 182 pounds Tyler Kleinsasser was fourth.
Jesse Mikrut finished fifth at 120 pounds while Jeremiah Johnson was seventh at 220 pounds.
Rounding out the placers for the Tigers were Nick Christensen at 138 pounds and Arthur Hines at 145 pounds as each finished eighth.
The Tigers finish their dual Eastern South Dakota season this week with a match at Aberdeen Central on Saturday.
