RAPID CITY — They didn’t lose a game in the regular season. They were the top seed going into the Class A State Basketball Tournament. Everything was looking good for Clark-Willow Lake entering Thursday’s opening round of the Class A State Basketball Tournament in Rapid City. But the Cyclones will not win a state title in 2013. They were upset by the No. 8 seed Platte-Geddes, 66-51.
The game was close, as the Black Panthers led by just five points in the fourth quarter, but they went on an 11-0 run to secure the win.
Platte-Geddes was led by 6-foot-4 sophomore Coby Johnson who poured in 24 points on the night.
Clark-Willow Lake will take on Spearfish, who lost to Tea Area in the opening round, in the consolation bracket today. Platte-Geddes will play Tea Area in the state semifinals tonight.
