Huron Storm opens season with pair of games

HURON The Huron Storm opened the fall soccer season with games against Belle Fourche and Custer on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

After building a 3-1 lead in the opening half, Belle Fourche emerged with a 4-2 victory against Huron in the season opener.

John Witte opened the scoring for the Storm with a goal in the first half on a pass from Zach Weber.

Jaedyn Ford capped the scoring for Huron using a header to put the ball in the net on a cross by Witte.

The Storm held one-goal leads in each of the halves against Custer but had to settle for a 2-2 tie.

Joseph Perez gave Huron a 1-0 advantage in the first half, scoring on a free kick.

Witte gathered a ball, which was tipped by the Custer goalkeeper to score the goal for the Storm in the second half.

Braedon Hinker served as the goalkeeper for Huron in both games.

The Storm retums to action Saturday, when it travels to play Chamberlain in a 1 p.m. game.
