HURON — The James Valley Christian soccer team opened the 2013 season with back-to-back victories.
In the first game on Friday at the JVC Field, the Vikings routed Mitchell Christian 6-0.
A total of six different players had goals for JVC.
Ryan Wager opened the scoring on a pass from Alex Waldner just five minutes into the game. Tristan Wieting followed with a goal in the 13th minute on a pass from Jayden Waldner.
Cole Glanzer made it 3-0, scoring on a pass from Tim Wager and then he found Jayden Waldner open for the fourth goal.
Adding the final two goals in the second half were Jon Blom and Ben Loewen.
Blom’s goal was assisted by Alex Waldner, while Loewen scored on an unassisted shot.
Andrew Ulvestad recorded the shutout in the net for the Vikings. He had a pair of saves.
The Vikings then faced Tea Area on Saturday and escaped with a 4-3 win in their first away game of the season.
Tim Wager had three goals to help JVC to the victory. He scored the first of three goals for his team in the opening half with the assist going to Jayden Waldner.
Tim Wager then assisted on a goal by Glanzer and then netted his second goal of the game on a pass from Nathan Wedel.
Wager had the lone goal of the second half for the Vikings, scoring on an unassisted shot.
Ulvestad had five saves to collect his second win in the net for JVC.
