PIERRE — The Huron boys’ golf team finished eighth in the Pierre Invitational, which was held Tuesday.
The Tigers turned in a 325 to match the score posted by the host team, Pierre, but lost the spot in the 11-team event, on a tiebreaker.
Rapid City Stevens finished at 299 to win the team title, with a two-stroke margin of victory over Aberdeen Central, which finished at 301.
Rapid City Central, which had the top two golfers in the field, finished third at 303, followed by Watertown at 305 and Parkston at 315.
Cole Peterson recorded Huron’s top score with a 77, which put him one stroke away from finishing in the top 15.
JP Noonan and Riley Goeller both carded 81 for the Tigers, while Colin Claeys followed with an 86.
Rounding out the lineup for Huron were Nolan Wiegel at 90 and Kyle Corbett at 97.
The Tigers will play their lone home meet of the season at 10 a.m. on Friday with the Huron Invitational at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
