ABERDEEN — The Huron Tiger boys’ golf team turned in a top-5 finish, while Oliver Farmen of Redfield-Doland turned in one of the top individual scores during the Hub City Invitational on Tuesday at Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen.
The Tigers finished with a score of 345 to finish fifth in the 12-team event.
Aberdeen Central used a 317 to claim the team title, while Watertown had a 328 to edge Aberdeen Roncalli by a stroke for the second spot. Rounding out the top five were Pierre at 339 and Huron.
Cole Peterson carded an 85 to lead the Tigers and secure the final spot in the top 20.
JP Noonan also shot an 85 for Huron on Tuesday, while Riley Goeller finished at 87 and Nolan Wiegel had an 88. Colin Claeys and Carson Hruby rounded out the lineup for the Tigers with 95 and 102, respectively.
Farmen shot an 81 for the Pheasants, which put him seventh in the final standings, just eight strokes off the leader’s pace.
Cameron Huff of Aberdeen Central won the medalist honors with a 73, while Michael Duch of Aberdeen Roncalli was second at 77.
Lance Stephens had a 93 for Redfield-Doland, while Hunter Avery had a 95. Rounding out the lineup were Gabe Suchor at 104, Bryce Stephens at 105 and Ryan Yost at 119.
The Huron golfers will now be off until the Yankton Invitational, which is scheduled for Sept. 13.
