James Valley Christian wins 281 Conference titles: Miller boys win Action Club Classic title

HIGHMORE — James Valley Christian claimed both the boys’ and girls’ title during the 281 Conference Cross Country Meet, which was held in conjunction with the Action Club Classic in Highmore.

Miller claimed the boys’ title in the Action Club Classic, while Potter County was the girls’ champion.

Jayden Waldner turned in the top time of 18:06.81 in the varsity boys’ race to lead the Vikings to the conference title, while teammate Kedric Brantner was third at 19:53.46 and Ryan Wager was seventh for JVC at 20:47.07.

Rex Schlicht of Woonsocket was second at 19:18.99, while Chris Hass of Sunshine Bible Academy was fourth at 20:01.52 and Carter Langbehn of Wolsey-Wessington was fifth at 20:36.38.

The Vikings won the title with eight points, while SBA was second at 21.

JVC teammates Khiree Held and Molly Skovlund finished first and second, respectively, in the varsity girls’ race with times of 16:56.15 and 17:11.09.

Rounding out the lineup for the Lady Vikings were Amanda Halsey, who was sixth at 18:06.91 and Morgan Johnson, who was 10th at 18:48.59.

Renee Seaman of SBA was third at 17:24.87, followed by Ashley Robinson of Wolsey-Wessington at 17:50.29 and LaMour Binger of Hitchcock-Tulare at 17:57.51.

The Lady Vikings finished with seven points to claim the title, while Hitchcock-Tulare was second at 19.

Miller had four of the top five runners to claim the boys’ title in the Action Club Classic.

Cole Sargent turned in a 17:45.11 to win the event for the Rustlers. Waldner of JVC was second, followed by Mason Breitling of Miller at 18:07.21, Trey Waldrop of Miller at 18:32.97 and JC Forman of Miller at 19:10.41.

Hannah Flatt and Sarah McClure of Potter County finished first and second, respectively, in the girls’ race during the Action Club Classic with times of 16:23.92 and 16:54.43.

Held and Skovlund of JVC were third and fourth, respectively, followed by Seaman of SBA.
