WEBSTER — The Redfield-Doland cross country teams won both the girls’ and boys’ divisions during the Region 1A Meet held Thursday in Redfield.
With five runners in the top 10, Redfield-Doland ran away with the team title in the girls’ division. The Lady Pheasants finished at 18, with Milbank finishing with 46 points to edge Webster Area by a point for the second spot.
Aberdeen Roncalli was third at 51, followed by Groton Area at 93, Deuel at 114, Britton-Hecla at 114 and Sisseton at 168.
Nicolette Schmidt won the girls’ varsity race for Redfield-Doland with a time of 14 minutes, 56 seconds, while Mikayla Prouty of Clark-Willow Lake was second at 15:38.
Also helping the Lady Pheasants claim the title were Chloe Edgar, who was fourth at 16:31; Sydney Moore, who was seventh at 16:45; Tana Muellenberg, who was ninth at 16:55, Kate Gillette, who was 10th at 16:56; and Isabel Blume, who was 18th at 17:33.
Kandace Kolden of Clark-Willow Lake narrowly missed earning a trip to state. She was 26th at 18:20.
Redfield-Doland was the lone team to field a complete boys’ team in the varsity race. The Pheasants had five of the top 16 runners to finish with 20 points.
Brady Chase and John Noyes finished first and second, respectively, for Redfield-Doland. Chase had a winning time of 17:24.73, while Noyes finished at 17:27.13.
Rawson Yost of Clark-Willow Lake was third at 18:05.16.
Rounding out the lineup for the Pheasants were Caleb McNeil, who was ninth at 18:42.99; Trey Cosato, who was 10th at 18:45.52; Evin Millar, who was 13th at 18:53.95; and Deion Beardemphl, who was 16th at 19:07.33.
The Class A State Cross Country Meet is scheduled Oct. 26 in Rapid City.
